DELAWARE AREA 12 GENERAL SERVICE ASSEMBLY DELEGATE’S REPORT - JANUARY, 2012
Welcome to Panel 62. I am looking forward to working with you, and then representing the membership in Area 12 to the General Service Conference April 22-28 in Rye, NY. I will also be attending Northeast Regional AA Service Assembly March 2-4 and then the Northeast Regional Delegates meeting March 16-18.
The Conference has already begun providing me with the basic orientation. First, I’ve been assigned a “buddy” from Panel 61. He is from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada. Not exactly a next door neighbor. Second, I’ve been assigned to the Public Information Committee, and have received historical back ground on that committee. In addition, I’m reviewing the final Conference Reports for the last two years. Within the next several weeks, I will be receiving the background material for all of the agenda items for this Conference.
The Assembly plays a significant role in providing me with input from the groups and districts at our annual Mini-Conference, April 14th. As in the past, the Mini-Conference will be conducted by our Alternate Delegate, Veronica E. She will describe the process in detail at our Assembly meeting on February 25th. The strength of our Traditions, including this process, are built upon the wealth of experience that exists in our membership, not a single individual. So, I’m urging all DCM’s and GSR’s to attend our February 25th and April 14th meetings.
Over the next two years, I plan to make periodic visits to the Districts, and also to the Intergroups. Relax. No lengthy and detailed reports. My purpose for being there is to be available and to get a “sense” of the service entity.
